Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle has revealed Daniel Sturridge's dad was the toughest nut to crack when he was sorting the Chelsea man's loan deal.
The striker has bagged seven goals in nine outings since arriving at the Reebok on deadline day.
"His dad wanted the very best for Daniel and I understood that. Daniel just wanted to come and do his best and his father, who is such a lovely man, wanted to know that Daniel was going to be playing.
"I said to him he'd get the opportunity to get the shirt and if he did as well as I believed he would, then he would be playing every week.
"I just told him he'd get the opportunity and then it would be up to Daniel. His dad was great and bought into everything we're doing and that helped with Daniel's peace of mind as well that his family were happy."
