Coventry have refuted claims that Liverpool legend Graeme Souness is on the verge of hijacking the American Consortiums takeover by mounting an 11th-hour bid to buy the club.
Souness, who attempted a £20million buy-out at Wolves earlier this year before expressing an interest in investing in Southampton, was invited by Fletcher to look around the Ricoh Arena last week fuelling reports over the weekend that he had been in talks with the Sky Blues.
City chairman Geoffrey Robinson told the Coventry Telegraph: "That is certainly not true and there is nothing in it.
"We knew that people would obviously put two and two together and we almost thought about giving him a disguise because he is so recognisable.
"He is a friend of Paul's and he just came to have a chat and look around just like most of the other Championship and Premiership clubs have come to see our wonderful stadium."
