Coventry chairman delighted Kean rejected Chelsea

Coventry City chairman Ray Ranson is delighted with assistant manager Steve Kean's decision to reject an approach from Chelsea.

Ranson told the club's official website: "We take it as a huge compliment that Chelsea are interested in Steve Kean. They are one of the biggest clubs in Europe and only consider the very best personnel - on and off the pitch.

"As Steve says, he is very committed to what we are aiming to achieve here at Coventry City. He wants to be coaching in the Premier League again but wants to do it with us here at the Ricoh Arena.

"I am by no means surprised by the interest. I said at the end of last season that I believed we would face approaches for the likes of Chris Coleman and Steve because they have developed great reputations in the game."
