QPR captain Adel Taarabt missed Saturday's clash with Doncaster Rovers after being informed that his cousin had been shot dead in Marseille, France.
The Moroccan midfielder was told on the morning of the game of the tragedy and hesitantly withdrew from the win at Doncaster.
The recently-crowned Championship Player of the Year is now back with his family where he will remain until the end of the month according to QPR boss Neil Warnock.
"Everyone at the club sends their condolences to Adel and his family," he said.
"It is testament to him that he wanted to play, but at the end of the day it's just a game of football and I told him that. Family is, and always will be, more important."
