Middlesbrough striker Kris Boyd could be set for a shock move to Celtic.
Boyd has been told by Boro boss Tony Mowbray that he's not in his long-term plans and can leave Teesside in January.
The Scotland international has been linked with Blackburn Rovers, but tribalfootball.com has learned his minders have sounded out Rangers about a return to Ibrox.
The move, however, is a non-starter with Gers cash-strapped and in no position to buy in January.
Boyd still favours a return to the SPL and a Glasgow source close to both Hoops and Gers has told tribalfootball.com that an amazing switch to Celtic Park cannot be ruled out before the market shuts at the end of next month.
The only stumbling block is that Boyd has only been away from Ibrox for seven months, but knowing he has little future at the Riverside, defection to Celtic cannot be discounted.
