Seattle Sounders have re-signed veteran defender Leo Gonzalez to a one-year deal.

The 33-year old Costa Rican left-back, who was named Seattle's Defender of the Year in 2013, joined the Sounders in 2009 and will now stay on at CenturyLink Field for at least another twelve months.

"Leo had an outstanding season in 2013, and we are happy to reward him with a new contract for the 2014 season," said general manager Adrian Hanauer.

Since arriving in Seattle, Gonzalez has gone on to make 98 MLS appearances which sits fifth on the clubs all-time games record list.
