Costa Rica's goalkeeping coach Luis Gabelo Conejo wanted to see Keylor Navas move to Manchester United on Monday.
Navas was set to leave Real Madrid for United as part of the David de Gea - before everything collapsed at midnight.
Conejo, a former Albacete keeper, stated: "A change would have been very beneficial, it would mean even more money.
"But Keylor wants to stay. Every player in the world wants to play for Real Madrid. He is a competitive player and therefore wants to stay, to earn his place.
"Keylor's situation is more political than sporting. Even without being completely aware, I think the Spanish Football Federation could also have played an important role, since they want the goalkeeper of their team playing in Spain."
