The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea could be well out of pocket after Diego Costa revealed that manager Antonio Conte does not have him in his plans next season.
Speaking after Spain's 2-2 draw with Colombia, in which he was an unused sub for La Roja, Costa said: "The other day, Conte sent me a message saying he does not count on me for next season," said Costa.
"It's a shame, I've already forwarded the message to Chelsea people to decide. But it is clear that the coach does not count on me and does not want me there. You have to find a team."
So what now?
Rumours of a move to AC Milan have gained traction, especially after Costa's preferred club – Atletico Madrid – is unable to buy players until January.
The new revelations are also set to cost Chelsea millions.
It is imperative for the Blues that they don't let this saga drag on throughout the summer. The longer they do, the more impact it will have on Conte's squad.
Because of the urgency, Chelsea will now have to settle for a cost price sale.
Chelsea will also be forced to pay the full price for a new forward now that Costa's dissatisfaction has been made public.
With knowledge of Chelsea's desperate situation, Everton will not budge from their £100m valuation for Romelu Lukaku.
