Serse Cosmi has revealed why he chose to go back on resigning from Livorno last month.
Cosmi had stormed out two weeks ago following a row over how hard to train the squad, but returned for a creditable 1-1 draw with Juventus.
"If I had not given my resignation, I would've lost credibility from the players and also felt shame at looking in the mirror," explained Cosmi.
"Spinelli had criticised my decision to give the squad two days off after the defeat in Livorno, but it was on a Saturday, so we wouldn't have played again for eight days. I was terribly upset at the things he said in front of many people, suggesting he was warning me. I replied that on Sunday I would leave.
"I had no intention of going back on my decision when I went to see him after a telephone call of explanation, but he welcomed me with laughter.
"If we'd have talked properly earlier, we would not have reached that point."
