Fiorentina sports chief Pantaleo Corvino has explained why they haven't pushed through a deal for Palermo defender Andrea Barzagli.

Corvino said: "We have been interested in the player and have also made an offer, but before that Dario Dainelli renewed his contract. The contract demands of Barzagli would have been a problem.

"With Dainelli, Vanden Borre, Balzaretti and Ujfalusi we do not have need other reinforcements."
