Nicola Cortese has quit as Southampton chairman.

The Daily Star says he was immediately replaced by owner Katharina Liebherr.

There are fears manager Mauricio Pochettino will now follow Cortese out the door, but he will definitely stay in charge for Saturday's trip to Sunderland.

Insiders fear if Pochettino quits as well it will spark an exodus of their top stars.
