Tottenham defender Vedran Corluka admits their win over Everton was crucial on Sunday.

Spurs held onto their fourth-placing courtesy of the 2-1 win.

"It was a very big win for us, especially after City won at Chelsea," Corluka told the Spurs website. "If we want to be in the first four places we needed to win and we did it.

"The first half was really good. We defended well and when we had opportunities we took them. We played very well first half but the second half was difficult. We lost Tom and that changed it. We've never played with Younes in the middle but he did well.

"Everton keep going, work hard, never give up and we just had that little bit of luck when we needed it when they missed the great chance. It was a good win for us but we also played really well in the first half and we deserved it."
