Cork reveals Swansea signing of Roque Mesa motivated Burnley move

Jack Cork has admitted his position at Swansea became untenable after the Swans signed Roque Mesa from Las Palmas.

The dogged midfielder arrives in England as a revered figure from his performances in La Liga, with City forking out £11m to beat Sevilla and Atletico Madrid to his signature.

And despite captaining the Welsh side last season, Cork knew that it wouldn't be easy to play next season.

"They had just signed someone in the same position, we had a lot of midfielders and it was going to be a difficult year," Cork told Burnley's website.

"The bid came in and it was something I was keen on from the go. The club was keen and I was keen, we talked about it and decided it was best."

Cork made 83 appearances across all competitions in three seasons for Swansea.
