Ivan Cordoba has attempted to play peacemaker between Inter Milan and teammate Patrick Vieira.

Vieira criticised Inter chiefs this week over demands that he skip last night's Euro2008 qualifier for France against Scotland.

However, Cordoba said: "Every coach would like to have Vieira on the field. We know he's a great player, he has an important character and it's important for us that we see him on the field.

"We hope when he returns he can do well for Inter."
