Coppell won't change Reading style

Reading boss Steve Coppell says he will not change his side's style of play, despite the Royals having suffered a nightmare run of eight successive league defeats.

That dreadful run of results have seen Coppell's side drop into the bottom three in the Premier League, but the Royals manager has urged his players to stick to their tried and tested methods.

He told the club's official website: "Early in the game on Sunday, Marcus Hahnemann kicked one out of play and there was a strange reaction from the crowd.

"The players must have though 'oh sugar, I've got to do my stuff now'. That sort of thing tightens you up. You've got to be able to express yourself and try to flow.

"In these circumstances, we can choose to do one of two things, we can try and long ball our way out of trouble or we can try to pass. I want us to try to pass.

"We tried to pass on Sunday, but it just got a bit edgy. Something has to change, but it's not like I'm keeping anything in reserve for a special occasion.

"I feel that we have a lot more potential within the squad than is actually being shown on a weekly basis. It might be me, I don't know.

"This season has been frustrating for me because I feel as if we have so much more to give, there's more in there and for whatever reason it's not coming out."
