The first three days of the 2011 Copa America have been completed with a few surprise results early in the tournament. The South American competition kicked off on Friday with hosts Argentina taking on Bolivia in La Plata with the end result being a 1-1 draw.
Atletico Madrid star Sergio Aguero saved the blushes of La Albiceleste with a brilliant volleyed equaliser in the 75th minute after Bolivia's Edvaldo Rojas opened the scoring in the 48th minute with a deft flick-on from the front post which somehow bobbled under the foot of Ever Banega who was on the goal-line.
Bolivia were able to hold off the Argentines despite the likes of Lionel Messi, Carlos Tevez and Javier Maschernao playing the full 90 minutes in what was a disappointing result for Sergio Batista and his men.
The second match, on Saturday, saw Colombia record a 1-0 win over Costa Rica in Jujuy thanks to Adrian Ramos' neat finish on the stroke of half-time.
The Costa Ricans had to contest most of the match with ten men after Randall Brenes was sent off in the 27th minute for a poor challenge on Luis Perea and they were unable to reduce the deficit as Colombia notched up three points in their Group A opener.
There were two matches on Sunday but neither produced a goal with Venezuela holding Brazil whilst Paraguay and Ecuador also played out a scoreless draw.
Tonight we will see Group C action with Uruguay taking on Peru and Chile clashing with CONCACAF Gold Cup winners Mexico.
