Cook leaves QPR for Orient loan spell

Queens Park Rangers winger Lee Cook has agreed a one-month loan switch to League One outfit Leyton Orient. "I'm going down to Leyton Orient for a month, up to the Boxing Day game, and I've heard great things about the manager, with both Mark Bircham and Shaun Derry having nothing but good things to say about him," Cook told skysports.com.

"I know a couple of the lads down there as well and I'm just excited to be getting the chance to play some first-team football again because it has been a while.

"They play good football and that is what I wanted really because going to a football club that don't get the ball down and play wouldn't suit me at all.

"They've got some decent players there and it is a move that should work out well for both parties."

The former Watford playmaker could make his Orient debut in Saturday's trip to high-flying Sheffield Wednesday, a side Cook almost signed for last season.

He added: "Sheffield Wednesday away, so it is a tough game to start with, but Orient are unbeaten in ten now and we'll be confident going up there.

"I've really missed everything that comes with playing on a matchday and I've had enough of watching Jeff Stelling and the boys.

"I did nearly sign for them when Alan Irvine was there, but it wasn't really the right time for me because I didn't feel 100 per cent at the time, so there was no point in me going and he knew that too.

"I've been fully fit since April though and you can train as much as you like and play endless amount of reserve games, but nothing compares with playing first-team matches regularly.

"It is going to take a couple of games probably, but it hasn't taken me long to adapt to the tempo of first-team games when I've previously returned from injuries."
