Wigan boss Steve Bruce is close to signing one striker and another is set to follow as he continues his rebuilding programme at the JJB Stadium.

Amr Zaki is set to join Wigan from Egyptian side Zamalek on a year's loan with reports saying The Premier League club will pay a loan fee of £1.5 million and then have first option on signing the striker next summer.

The identity of the second striker on Bruce's shopping list remains a mystery, but rumours suggest that his scouting staff are looking at clubs in Europe.

"We are looking at several options and hope to start a few things soon," Bruce said on wigantoday.net.

"We are close to a couple of things happening and we are working very hard to get it done.

"It could be quite a busy period for us and we've made significant progress recently."
