Wigan boss Chris Hutchings has warned Hull boss Phil Brown it will require "a huge offer" to prise Caleb Folan away from the JJB Stadium.
Brown had the chance to view Folan first hand on Tuesday night as the 24-year-old played the full 90 minutes of Wigan's Carling Cup exit at the hands of the Tigers.
Hutchings, though, is eager to keep Folan as he said: "I don't want to sell Caleb at this moment. If I did it would have to be a huge offer."
There is still hope for Brown, though, because when asked about the possibility of a loan deal, Hutchings replied: "I don't know, I would have to think about it."
Hutchings can certainly see potential in the rangy forward, adding: "He's come a long way in a short of space of time.
"Last year he came along and he scored some important goals for us, and last night he worked very hard, as he always does.
"He is still a bit raw, but he is learning the game all the time."
