West Brom boss Tony Mowbray has warned his new signings that there are no first team guarantees.
"They have got to work hard on the training ground to prove things and that's how football is. It's a competition within a competition and players have to compete with each other for starting positions.
"Managers can't have favourites or âstick-ons' in the team. They have to earn the right to play. I am trying to improve the squad but everybody will have the same opportunity.
"You hope the new signings are instantly energised to perform at their best because they want to impress their new team mates and new supporters.
"But the players who did so well last year will also be given the opportunity to compete to try to get into the team."
