West Brom already eyeing next summer's transfer window - Peace

Confirming a deal is close for Derry City winger Paddy McCourt, West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace revealed they're taking a long-term approach to the transfer market.

"McCourt is the closest one but the major strategic ones will start coming in once they are back for pre-season in early July," Peace told the Birmingham Mail. "That's when we will start to filter them in. Ideally we would like to have them all in before the season starts but given the pecking order that may not happen.

"There are some interesting alternatives on the list and that is good.

"We've got one or two enquiries out and you always hope.

"The reality sometimes dawns and you can't get certain people but I think it's quite exciting.

"This window is going to involve preparation for the next window and the one after that.

"There are players already on the list who we are just watching for next summer.

"It's the first time I have ever had that in my time as chairman."
