The defender, a nephew of Edgar Davids, spent last week training with The Dons and he could well get another chance to impress later in the summer, having returned to his native Holland for the end of the season with the youth team.

Calderwood has good contacts in Holland having spent a large portion of his playing career there and he has also given a trial to Iwan Redan.

Redan's star has dimmed in recent years, after he was sacked by Willem II following an incident with a team-mate, but he may get the chance to resurrect his career in The SPL.
