The defender has spent the last six months in Ireland with Sligo Rovers after being released by Derby at the end of last season.
Shrews boss Gary Peters told the club's official website: "He's a super young lad and I really think that he may become a real player.
"He may be one for the future but we'll see how he goes over the next few weeks.
"We've got a clause in the contract that as soon as he's played five games in the first team we can renegotiate the contract so there is an incentive for him to do well quickly."
