"I am very proud of these players and it is a delight to see how they have secured the title," said Calderon. "Another team would have given this game away, but this squad is full of heroes."

Asked about plans for next season, Calderon added: "We will only make two or three adjustments of quality and will make sure we continue to go forward by improving in all areas."

He also said: "I thought a lot of Bernd Schuster. I said he would continue in charge if the league was won or not. Now this project has to go further.

"It's a young team and needs to improve, like wine. Can we win the Champions League? It is very difficult, but when you start the season this team has to aspire to everything."
