But he promised: "I was on the bench for a friendly with Uruguay at the end of last season and would love to be given the chance to play for my country but I won't be going to this one.
"Australia also play friendlies in Europe so those are the ones I would be able to be involved in.
"Time is on my side - I'm only 22 and Mark Schwarzer is 35 so I have just got to be patient.
"I feel I am way ahead of myself anyway, especially when you consider I didn't even have a club two years ago.
"And I can understand the manager's point of view with people coming back injured or tired out. I'm happy to be where I am right now."
