Preston manager Alan Irvine has reiterated his desire to keep on-loan striker Paul Gallagher, but admits the decision rests with Blackburn.
The 23-year-old has impressed during his spell at Deepdale, which expires in January, and Irvine hopes to negotiate a longer stay with Rovers boss Mark Hughes.
Irvine told the club's official website: "Paul is not our player and we must accept that. I am not sure that we will be able to keep him long term.
"I need to speak to Mark Hughes and he needs to let me know exactly what his plans are for Paul. We will have to wait and see.
"I certainly do not want too many people to go in January, that's for sure."
