Pearce raps FA: Where's National Academy?

England U21 boss Stuart Pearce has criticised the FA over the development of young players.

Psycho said it is "mind-boggling" that the National Football Academy in Burton is still not built - five years after it was started.

The state-of-the-art training complex was put on the back burner while bungling FA chiefs threw millions at Wembley.

A decision on its future will be made in December but only last month FA chief Brian Barwick hinted it could be scrapped.

Under-21 boss Psycho, whose kids face Bulgaria at Milton Keynes tonight, said: "Premier League sides have everything under one roof and common sense says we should have one base where all the coaching, training and facilities are.

"For the national side not to have that is mind-boggling. And to scrap that now and say we don't want to do it is incredible.

"The sooner it is up and running the better. It could be the envy of the world like Wembley."
