England U21 boss Stuart Pearce is delighted they'll play their Euro2009 qualifier against Portugal at Wembley in September.

Pearce said: "Since our last Under-21 game, six of our players have been in the senior squad. That shows that the dividing line is very small and Fabio Capello is happy to bring players in and have a look at them.

"We want the transition to the seniors to be as smooth as possible. Taking this game to Wembley is part of that.

"A lot of the Under-21 players will never have played there before and the experience of playing this game there will help them as and when they step up to the seniors."
