Nurnberg striker Vidosic considers Croatia option

The FC Nurnburg attacking midfielder has been left out of Graham Arnold's Olyroos squad and will take into consideration the chance to represent Croatia, seeing as he has yet to be capped at senior international level with Australia.

Arnold has cited various reasons for keeping Vidosic out of the squad, but the 21-year old still wants a proper explanation. Those reasons include believing that Vidosic was more concerned with winning a place in Nurnburg's first team rather than with the Olyroos and the fact he apparently doesn't play well in the heat.

Speaking to The Herald Sun, Vidosic said, "When you've gone through the whole two years (with the Olyroos), it's a bit of a shame not making it and not knowing why.

"I think in the two years I've been around I've proven that I wanted to be there.

"Unfortunately, Australia plays all their games in the heat through the Asian qualifiers, so there's not much more I can do."

Vidosic was born in Croatia but moved to Australia when he was one and would love to represent his adopted nation but could be swayed to play for the Mediterranean nation if the opportunity arose.

"If I start doing well in Germany, then Croatia will come as well because I'm not locked in, having not represented Australia at Socceroo (senior) level.

"First and foremost I'd like to play for Australia, but I would not rule out playing for Croatia, because with the Australian team, everything's up in the air now."

However, Vidosic still remains positive.

"This is a small bump in the road. I've got to do it for myself now and all the rest will figure itself out later."
