Bolton could face a battle to keep hold of El-Hadji Diouf as reports claim that Newcastle are keen to swoop.

Former Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce has already swooped on the Reebok Stadium to land Abdoulaye Faye but now speculation suggests he wants to land Diouf as well.

Bolton are unlikely to accept any offers for their star players during the January transfer window but new boss Gary Megson may struggle to keep hold next summer even if Wanderers stay up.

The Sunday tabloids are full of stories linking Diouf with a move to Newcastle and although he has always said how happy he is at the Reebok, a chance to link up with Allardyce again may turn the Senegal international's head.
