Huddersfield confirm ex-Derby No2 Ternent as manager

Huddersfield have confirmed Stan Ternent as their new manager and ex-Gillingham boss Ronnie Jepson will join Town as his assistant.

The 61-year-old has signed a three-year deal at the Galpharm Stadium.

Jepson, a former Town striker, played under Ternent at Bury and Burnley and was also his assistant at Gillingham.

Ternent had been assistant to Paul Jewell at Derby but saw the Rams relegated from the Premier League this season.

Terriers chairman Ken Davy revealed it was Ternent's experience that swung the balance in his favour.

"We obtained permission to speak to Stan, who up until Friday was assistant manager to Paul Jewell," said Davy.

"He requested that he was released from his lucrative contract at Pride Park to join Town, clearly demonstrating his passionate desire to be part of this great club at this exciting time.

"He stood head and shoulders above the other applicants."
