Former Hibs defender Martin Canning has lifted the lid on his shock move to Hamilton. He told the Edinburgh Evening News: "I had asked a month previously that if I wasn't to be one of the starting two would it be possible for me to go. The gaffer told me back then 'no chance', that he wouldn't let me go.
"I kept asking as games went by and I wasn't starting. I knew I had two great players in front of me but I was frustrated and I'm the sort of guy who cannot hide being disappointed at not playing.
"I didn't try to be unhappy, that's just the way I am. The gaffer and Rod Petrie (Hibs chairman] were great with me, they understood why I felt that way and told me they'd help me."
