And Reid said: "If teams come and look at these young guys and it's time for one or two of them to move on, we won't stand in their way.
A number of top clubs have already inquired about 16-year-old midfielder McCarthy.
And Reid's side have attracted much attention for taking a surprise lead in the Division One table.
"Some journalists are waking up to what is happening at Hamilton Accies, but it has been the case for the last year," he said. "Players have 30 or 40 games under their belt at 16, 17 and 18 years of age.
"It is only natural that if they listen they will progress and I think you are seeing that.
"Now we have to keep our feet on the ground.
"We are picking up newspapers and our players are on the back pages, which is really nice and the players are enjoying it.
"But the minute that you get carried away and the young guys start to believe it then it could be a problem.
"I don't think that will be the case because they are a fantastic group of young men on and off the park."
