Gretna keen to secure Yantorno to new deal

Gretna are keen to secure midfielder Fabian Yantorno to a new 12-month contract.

Gretna chief executive Graeme Muir said: "We are speaking to Fabian at the moment and hope to sign him up to a new contract.

"He enjoys playing at the club and hopefully we can agree terms."

But Yantorno is likely to miss the rest of season after he suffered ligament damage in his knee during last month's 2-0 victory against Falkirk, although the injury is not as bad as first feared and the 25-year-old avoided an operation.

However, it has been a big blow to Gretna who have seen the South American's talent clinch vital points for them this season.

"He has been in stunning form for us this season and is obviously a player we want to keep at the club," said Muir.

"It's been hard for him and the club to see out injured but having him sign on for another season would give everyone a good lift."
