Gretna chairman confident club can survive administration

A meeting is set to take place on May 8 at which Gretna's fate will be discussed by creditors.

Gretna have been in administration since March 12, taking the necessary step following the withdrawal of Brooks Mileson's financial support for the club.

They could be wound up if the creditors tell administrators Wilson Field there is no future for the Raydale Park club.

But McGregor told the Daily Express,"I do not expect that to happen.

"We are optimistic a buyer will be found and we are keeping all our hopes alive to try to soldier on."

Gretna's administrators have called a press conference for 1pm on May 8, where the outcome of their discussions with creditors will be announced.

Several interested parties have looked at potentially investing in Gretna, however with the club's debt levels so high and crowds so low there has been no firm move towards a takeover.
