Gold convinced Birmingham takeover won't happen

Birmingham City chairman David Gold is convinced Carson Yeung cannot raise the funds to complete his takeover.

He said: "I'm working on the basis that it will not go through," Gold said. "The day-to-day running of the club will remain in our hands. He [Yeung] can't raise the funds. If he could, the deal would have been done.

"Yeung's people say we're being negative, but what else can we be? We've heard nothing from them for over a month. It's probably been my worst three weeks in football. But with Alex McLeish [Bruce's successor] here and David Sullivan [the plc chairman and fellow co-owner] saying he wants to stay, I'm excited about the future. I'm willing the deal to fail."
