Gillingham silent on Newell talk

Gillingham are refusing to confirm whether Mike Newell has been interviewed for the vacant manager's job at Priestfield.

The former Luton boss is one of a number of managers who have been linked with the post since the resignation of Ronnie Jepson two weeks ago.

Colchester assistant Micky Adams and the current caretaker management team of Iffy Onoura and Mick Docherty are also said to have been considered for the job.

However, whilst admitting that interviews are ongoing, Gillingham are refusing to comment on individual names.

"We don't wish to talk about individual names, but several people have been interviewed for the job and that process will continue," said a Gillingham spokesman.
