"We have no intention of selling him, no desire - we would like Jimmy to stay," Hodgson stressed.

"Given the amount of money given to the club by (chairman) Mr Al Fayed, we're reluctant to start re-signing contracts that have got two years to go.

"Jimmy understands that. This summer Jimmy's been told the club is not prepared to renegotiate."
