France goalkeeper Mikael Landreau says the ball was to blame for him allowing James McFadden to hit Scotland's winner on Wednesday night.
"Nowadays, the trajectories of the balls are so unpredictable. It moved a little in the air and made my attempt to parry it look absurd. It was a fantastic strike, undoubtedly, but this is a heavy blow for us."
France veteran Lilian Thuram was also stunned by what was only his country's third defeat in their previous 47 qualifying matches, adding that Scotland didn't even play like a team that wanted to win.
