Mikael Forssell is ready to open talks about a new contract at Birmingham City.

He said: "I've only got this season left of my contract before it finishes (although there is a two year option). We will see what happens.

"We need to see where we are in the league and hopefully we can stay in the Premier League and then I think we can start talking. Soon, with Karren Brady (managing director) and the owners we will talk.

"Would I like to stay? Obviously the key factor for everyone, the club and me, is that we would stay up. That would be very important and I am more than happy to stay then. This is a great club."
