FIFA president Blatter agrees WADA partnership

FIFA president Sepp Blatter and WADA president John Fahey have signed a letter of intent in order to further strengthen cooperation between the two organisations in the fight against doping.

The agreement was reached following a meeting in which the revised version of the World Anti-Doping Code and the UNESCO Convention were also discussed.

"FIFA and WADA share the common objective of fighting doping and we will continue to do so through all possible means," said Blatter. "With this close and excellent cooperation between us, I am certain that we will be able to safeguard this objective.

According to the terms of the letter of intent, FIFA has declared its unconditional support for WADA in the fight against doping and agreed to do its utmost to ensure that the relevant bodies within FIFA ratify the World Anti- Doping Code Version 3.0.

The letter of intent has come into force with immediate effect
