Euro failure will still deliver £150,000 for England stars

England's failure to reach Euro2008 will still reward the players to the tune of £150,000 each, it has been revealed.

The Sun says the pay-out depends on how many times players make the England squad.

Each time they are selected, it is worth one share of the "players pool" - paid by sponsors and the FA.

While players donate their £1,500 match fee to charity, they keep the pool dosh.

One player's accountant said: "The players will obviously make more if they qualify for Euro 2008 but even by not making it they do all right.

"It might be only a couple of weeks wages to many of them, but to your average man in the street it's an absolute fortune.

"You never know exactly what the payment will be, but for those who figured in most of Steve McClaren's squads and did a turn for the sponsors, £150,000 would be about right."
