Derby boss Jewell cools talk over West Brom's Phillips

Derby boss Paul Jewell has denied reports he has made a move for West Brom striker Kevin Phillips but admitted he could be interested in the 34-year-old.

Phillips has been stalling on signing a new deal with The Baggies as he wants a two-year contract, whereas Tony Mowbray's side are only offering a 12-month extension.

"I've heard all the reports but we've not spoken to Kevin Phillips," said Jewell.

"I don't know where that's all coming from. Of course, that's not to say we're not interested - I'm not saying that. We just haven't spoken to him."
