Cotterill leaves Burnley

Burnley have parted company with manager Steve Cotterill by mutual consent after just one win in their last 10 games.

Cotterill, 43, has been at the Turf Moor helm since June 2004, but after a disappointing run of results, the former Stoke boss has left the Championship club.

Tuesday's 1-0 defeat at home to Hull left the Clarets in 15th place in the table.

Cotterill's departure nevertheless comes as something of a surprise, given that Steve Davis was only appointed to the role of assistant manager last Friday.

A statement from the Clarets said: "Burnley Football Club confirm that first team manager Steve Cotterill has left the club by mutual consent.

"Burnley Football Club would like to place on record their thanks to Steve Cotterill for his hard work and commitment to the club since he took the role in June 2004. There will be no further comment at this time.''
