Kennedy underwent surgery in America in December - with the injury unrelated to all previous problems with his left knee.
"John has been working very hard in rehabilitation already but still has to return to America to see Dr Steadman again," said the player's advisor Allan Preston. "It is a routine check and the good thing is this injury was not connected with the previous one on the same knee. John's meniscus was damaged this time but he has had the surgery and in a few weeks should be able to increase his fitness work.
"Everyone knows John's attitude when it comes to this kind of work and he is tireless in that regard."
