Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce insists he still has the financial backing of co-owner David Sullivan for the final days of the summer market.

He said: "The money never, ever disappeared. I've always had a budget. I've worked to that budget and I will continue to work to that budget.

"We always know with Mr Sullivan, if there is something that comes along, then he will blow the budget apart. That is his way of putting something back into the club.

"This board will give me all the money that the club generates. They will give me every penny. That's fact.

"If there is something which is far and away above the normal thing, then Mr Sullivan usually digs into his own pocket.

"I've said it repeatedly that nothing has changed in my remit because a new guy (Carson Yeung) has invested in the club.

"I am working to the same budget as I was given last May. The money is still there for a midfielder - or whoever I need."
