Blackburn's Dunn: Birmingham gave up on me

David Dunn told the Mirror has accused former club Birmingham of not doing enough to help him recover from his serious injury troubles.

Dunn, a £5.5m signing, suffered a series of debilitating injuries, including spinal problems that wrecked his time at St Andrews where he only made 46 league starts. But he has shown great courage to fight back and claim a regular place in Mark Hughes' Blackburn side.

Dunn said: "I don't think they (Birmingham) did everything they could have done. They gave up on me. There was more they could have done.

"I'd been in bed for three months lying flat on my back because of my spinal problem.

That was difficult and I found out who my friends were. Towards the end they gave up on me."
