Birmingham chairman Gold wanted by five clubs

Birmingham City chairman David Gold has been approached by five clubs seeking his investment and expertise.

The Blues co-owner has revealed that other parties have not been slow to approach him in anticipation of the club's impending takeover by Carson Yeung.

He said: "As I speak, there have been approaches from other clubs. I'm not so sure whether it's because of my good looks and charming personality, or my bank balance!

"Seriously, five parties have expressed an interest and, to a degree, it is monetary, but there are other reasons - 15 years' experience, 10 as chairman - and a number of people have made that clear. But I have said to these people that yes, I'm happy to do lunch, yes, I'm happy to have dinner, but I am still the controlling shareholder of Birmingham City along with David.

"Until such a time as that changes, if it changes, then there is nothing really to speak about. The important thing for myself, Steve, Karren and David right now is to concentrate on Birmingham City."
