Birmingham City chairman David Gold insists he's unaware of takeover interest arriving from Russia.

Russian billionaire Vagit Alekperov has been linked with a Brum bid, but Gold says: "I know of no inquiry from that Russian. It is as simple as that and I would suggest it is hard for anything to go ahead without a major shareholder, as I am, approving the deal.

"It might be that some agent has called (managing director) Karren Brady, it might be a publicity seeking organisation that sees it as free publicity.

"But I can't believe if there has been some sort of inquiry that Karren and David (Sullivan) would not have rung me. If they had, I would tell you."
