Conte wanted fast start from Chelsea as he quickly eyes West Ham

Antonio Conte urged his Chelsea players to get going as quickly as possible in Sunday's meeting with Manchester United.

The Blues bounced away to an early lead when Pedro struck inside the opening minute and then found themselves two goals to the good when Gary Cahill fired home on 21 minutes.

After the match, which finished 4-0, Conte admitted that his message to his side was to take an early advantage over United but he also made it clear that looking ahead to Wednesday night's EFL Cup clash with West Ham United was now most important.

"I asked my players to start very strong and show quickly our desire to win this game, not only our fans but above all our opponent," he said.

"It happened because we scored after 30 seconds.

"The most important thing was that we continued to play, and to try to score the second goal. It happened and I'm very happy.

"Now we must continue. Manchester United is the past for me. We must be concentrated on Wednesday. It's important to recover the energy and to prepare for another difficult game."
